In the Spotlight

Tonight was the girls' ballet recital, and boy did they look grown up it all that make up!  I love watching them dance.  The best part of the night was when they each got to do an improvised solo.  I was backstage, just praying that Todd was recording it.  I about cried tears of joy when he told me he did!

Last recital we got in HUGE trouble for forgetting to buy the girls flowers.  Thank goodness we remembered this time!  Look at those smiles!  Totally worth it.

And since I never blog anymore, here are some other recent photos.  :)  Brandon turns ONE in about 10 days.  I can't believe it.  He is learning to walk, and loves to wave and clap.  He finally got his first tooth about two weeks ago, and he still doesn't sleep through the night.  Good thing he is so cute and fun!

The kids started soccer!  It has been so fun!  Well, actually... Ty cries the whole time and barely plays.  But the girls are doing great, and I am really enjoying watching them.

After 7 years of not loving the paint color in our TV room, we finally painted it!  We get to enjoy it for about a week before we move into our new house, lol!  The girls were very eager to help.

Awards

I try not to push my kids too much.  I tell myself that things like awards and recognition really don't matter.  And they really don't.  It's just that when your kid gets an award, it feels like it really matters!  :)

Both of my girls were recognized at their school talent show for the awards they won in the PTA Reflections contest.

Bronwyn's DANCE won a Maple Grove award and a Regional Award.

Magdalen's STORY won a Maple Grove, Regional, and State Award.

When I picked the girls up from school, Bronwyn was a little bummed that Magdalen's project won state, and that Magdalen received a medallion, and Bronwyn didn't.  So I took Magsy aside before letting her in the van to explain that I was so super excited and proud of her, but that Bronwyn was feeling a little down, so I wasn't going to talk much about it in front of Bronwyn.  Well... as soon as we get into the van Magsy says to Bronwyn "Mom says you feel bad that you didn't get a medal".  

Well that backfired.

Magsy then proceeded to remind Bronwyn that she has lots of medals from Relay for Life, and that living through a brain tumor is a bigger deal than winning an award.

Neat perspective.  :)
